🧾 COMPETITION MECHANICS

Route Scoring

  • Each route on the carnival wall is assigned a specific point value based on difficulty.

  • Points are awarded only when a climber successfully tops the route.

  • There are no start or zone points for qualifiers — only tops count.

  • Starting holds and tops will be clearly marked for each route.

  • For Novice / Intermediate / Open, your best 5 routes’ cumulative score determines your ranking.

  • Top 8 climbers or teams advance to Finals.

Multiple Categories

  • Climbers may join up to 2 categories: 1 individual and 1 team.

  • You must complete and submit your scorecard for one category before starting another.

  • This can be done within a single session or separate sessions.

Scorecards

  • Only signed scorecards by official judges are valid.

  • The latest submitted scorecard before Finals will be used for qualification.

  • For OBG and Fun Climb Doubles, scores are cumulative across all sessions joined.

🧮 SCORING SYSTEM & FINALS

Qualifiers (Carnival Rounds)

  • No 4-point start; only tops count toward your score. (2-point start tape, all limbs off the mat to start)

  • No zones — each completed route awards its assigned points.

Finals

  • Finals follow IFSC bouldering rules (4 problems, on-sight format).

  • Scoring is based on tops, zones, and attempts. (IFSC scoring system)

  • In case of ties:

    1. Fewer attempts to top

    2. More zones

    3. Fewer attempts to zone

    4. Countback to qualifiers
